stEVIe LOEBS

Raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, Stevie dreamed of being an actor and attended Ohio University - an undergraduate program in Theater Arts.

Life happened, and she found her career in the Healthcare Industry. A Licensed Registered Nurse, she has served her community in areas that included Oncology and Primary Care, but the majority was in Addictions Psychiatry. Despite the success she had in her career, her heart remained in the Arts and the Performing Arts.

She retired to Central Virginia because of her love of Nature and the Environment. She and her life partner own some land just down the road from our town of Scottsville and hold onto the dream of developing this property to be a safe and welcoming place for those needing retreat and respite.

She brings a combination of practical business operations, artistic sensibility, and experience to the Board of Directors. As a healthcare administrator, she served for years as a member and President of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics, whose educational mission is something she feels passionate about.

She hopes to assist SCAN in fulfilling its mission. She is known to say that it is Art that elevates a community.  And its love of nature that will preserve it.

ruth aldridge

Ruth Ann Olinger Aldridge is originally from Louisa County Virginia, but she has called home just over the bridge of Scottsville/Buckingham Virginia, for over 25 years.

Ruth has worked full time at the University of Virginia in various administrative roles both in the medical and academic settings. Attending both Piedmont Virginia Community College and the University of Virginia for her college coursework. Prior to this she worked locally for several florists as a floral designer.

She loves anything that will take her to live music and to the outside landscapes of this beautiful world. However, she more than often seeks waterways to nourish her exploration of nature and art.

If there was a tagline for her life it would be “health is our greatest treasure and nature, art, music, and water are key elements to this destination”.

Ruth is extremely honored to be a part of SCAN board and the community it serves for the areas that encompass the “Horseshoe Bend” watershed to the Chesapeake and beyond.

Lisa Caltabiano

Lisa is a real estate agent and master naturalist. Some of the SCAN projects that interest Lisa are the business-side and logistics of a non-profit, the nature land on Hardware Street, and ongoing collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club to engage our youth around arts and nature.

Lisa can be heard gushing about how much she loves Scottsville. For such a small town, there's a good amount of quality activities. She is truly honored to be a part of a great team of folks who bring some of it to you!

Luke dupont

Luke majored in English and Environmental Science, with an emphasis on ecology, at the University of Virginia and is currently working on a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University.  He has been blessed to combine his love of the outdoors with his work for most of his career.  With almost 20 years of experience in natural resources he brings permitting and natural resource management knowledge to SCAN.

When he’s not working or doing schoolwork, he enjoys time with his two boys, running, hiking, botanizing, paddling, backpacking, playing basketball, or just tossing a disc.

LIZ KNOTTS

Liz Knotts joins SCAN as an enthusiastic citizen of Scottsville, having previously served 8 years on Town Council and 2 of those years as Vice Mayor. During that time, she served on several committees including Beautification committee and helped establish Van Clief Nature Area and volunteerism in our parks. She looks forward to continued service to the community through the SCAN board and our nature efforts.

Liz is currently employed as the Director of Prevention and Outdoor programs at Elk Hill. During her time with this organization, she has served in many capacities, most recently focusing on giving children an opportunity to experience the therapeutic benefits of nature during school breaks. Liz has a passion for bringing nature to children. She also believes nature is one of the greatest ways to heal from adverse experiences and build life-long wellness and resiliency.

Liz earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice from Muskingum University, is a Qualified Mental Health Professional and Certified Ecotherapist. She is an advocate for children and families, passionate about equity for all living beings, LGBTQ+ rights, and can be found wandering the outdoors with her Goldendoodle, Henry and 5-year-old Carter.

NICKI PEASLEY

Nicki and her husband Mike moved to Scottsville from Richmond in 2023 and are thrilled to be co-creating a Space of Love amongst the trees at Idylwood Farm, a vision initiated by Nicki's mom Nancy who died in 2015.

Nicki spent much of her life as an elementary school teacher, but now works as an end-of-life doula and energy healing practitioner. Nicki is the author of Ellipsis and thanks to the Victory Hall Players, she has rediscovered her love for the stage.

Nicki hopes to combine her experience as a teacher with her love for nature, writing and theater—sparking creative potential and planetary stewardship in Scottville's kids. She is grateful to be putting roots down in this special community and is excited to help champion SCAN's essential mission.
