VAN CLIEF MURAL

A mural project that highlights the Van Clief Nature Area and painted graphics add way-finding to navigate the trails towards the VCNA. | In collaboration with The Town of Scottsville, The Charlottesville Mural Project, and support from the Virginia Commission of the Fine Arts.

The mural at the entrance of The Van Clief Nature area was designed by Emily Gable with the intention of delineating an otherwise hidden entrance to the park while also depicting Mink Creek’s relationship as a tributary to the James River. The mural was designed and painted by Emily Gable of Bootleg Sign Co.

The Van Clief Nature Area (VCNA) is a 63-acre park owned by the Town of Scottsville and located just east of Valley Street downtown. The centerpiece of the nature area is Scottsville Lake, where fishing is open to the public. The nature area is a long-term investment of the Town’s, with development guided by the VCNA Master Plan.
