SCAN LAND WORKSHOP
On July 22, SCAN held a workshop on the 13 acre land on Hardware Street. We had a great turn-out and learned a great deal from our discussions. It was clear everyone was excited about the prospect of having SCAN Land to be used as a future public space!
CALL FOR SUBMISSION
Scottsville Center for Arts and the Natural Environment invites applicants to submit a cohesive body of work to be featured in our newest exhibit: “VALLEY . STREET . SCAPE”. SCAN is a nonprofit that seeks to create a space for the exploration of the natural environment through the arts. This juried exhibition is open to any applicant working in any medium. In partnership with the Town of Scottsville, this exhibit will utilize the space in vacant storefronts in downtown Scottsville in the interest of activating the public realm while bringing art and design to the community. This partnership will allow applicants to exhibit their work, connect to their communities, and help showcase storefronts for rent or sale.
ART AND DESIGN IN EMPTY STOREFRONTS
SCAN worked with the UVA School of Architecture to put student work in vacant storefronts in 2016. We are currently working with the Town of Scottsville to get this project off the ground. If you are an artist or designer interested in exhibiting your work please contact us at getcurious@svilleartsandnature.org.
SCAN LAND HISTORY
A project to redesign SCAN's 13 acres into a public park that engages all surrounding communities through the Participatory Design process, and ultimately use once constructed.
HIVE | A FARMER’S MARKET MURAL
In collaboration with The Discovery School and supported by the Virginia Commission of the Fine Arts.
2020 FOUNDER’S GALA
2020 was a big year for SCAN and Scottsville. Our founder, Mary Hardy, would have been 95; SCAN is celebrating its 15th anniversary as a local arts and environmental non-profit organization; and our home, Victory Hall turns 100!
